Ford has issued a recall

Well, I'm not sure if it's because of the pressure put upon it by chefs worldwide, but Ford has stopped running the commercial poking fun at bad chef hygiene. I'm no stick in the mud, and I appreciate a god joke as much as anyone. It makes me wonder if Ford would have been so casual about showing a mechanic nonchalantly tossing away a vital engine part. To those who signed the petition, thanks. It is a good demonstration of using the power of the market to influence companies. Thanks.

Food Safety Corner: Ford's bad hygeine

If you care about good hygeine and the image of food professionals as caring individuals who take food safety seriously, please take a look at and sign this petition. Ford Motor Co. is running a TV commercial which shows a chef using VERY bad hygeine, apparently in the name of humor.

"We, the undersigned, are appalled with your latest TV commercial showing a man washing his hands and a chef (in full uniform) coming out of a bathroom stall, seeing the sink was occupied, just wiped his hand on his chef coat, not washing his hands and then going out of the restroom."

While I haven't seen the commercial running in my area, I can't imagine a good reason to depict a chef doing such a thing, and giving the public the idea that chefs don't take their hygeine obligations seriously

Just Ducky

Juliette Rosant over at SuperChefBlog has posted an excellent editorial about the latest, lamentable developments in the Chicago Foie Gras War. It's pretty dispicable what politically correct ideologues will do in the name of their cause. It's sad that in our country people feel that they can bully others into doing what they want. Shame on them.

Where has ReMARKable Palate been???

Sorry that I haven't posted sooner. I've been AWOL for awhile, but for good reason. I just took a new full time position as a private chef which requires that I travel with my client, and I have been busy learning the ropes. I promise that I will be back here posting again soon, focusing on many recipes I'm working on for my new job. I'll also try to get a podcast up in the next few weeks. Thanks!
